| 2 | 2 | | WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is proud to |

| 3 | 3 | | recognize the Hickory Creek Police Department on the occasion of |

| 4 | 4 | | Police Week in Texas; and |
|---|
| 5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, Peace officers are a select group of brave men and |
|---|
| 6 | 6 | | women who dedicate their lives to the protection and safekeeping |
|---|
| 7 | 7 | | of their fellow citizens and who serve our nation and this great |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | state, regardless of dangerous circumstances and risks to their |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | personal safety; and |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | WHEREAS, As a tribute to these invaluable civil servants, |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | the 87th United States Congress and President John F. Kennedy |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | designated May 15 as Peace Officers Memorial Day and the week of |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | May 15 as Police Week; and |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | WHEREAS, Proud traditions since 1962, these observances |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | provide an excellent opportunity for citizens to reflect on the |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | far-reaching responsibilities and challenges of law enforcement |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | duty and to honor active peace officers, as well as those who have |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | fallen, for their exceptional service and sacrifice; now, |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | therefore, be it |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 84th |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | Legislature, hereby commend the members of the Hickory Creek |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | Police Department for their outstanding service to their |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | community and their dedication to duty and encourage all Texans |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | to pay tribute to their local police department in observance of |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | Police Week in Texas; and, be it further |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | the Hickory Creek Police Department as an expression of high |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | regard from the Texas Senate. |
