                            SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 760
 WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is proud to
 recognize the Hickory Creek Police Department on the occasion of
 Police Week in Texas; and
 WHEREAS, Peace officers are a select group of brave men and
 women who dedicate their lives to the protection and safekeeping
 of their fellow citizens and who serve our nation and this great
 state, regardless of dangerous circumstances and risks to their
 personal safety; and
 WHEREAS, As a tribute to these invaluable civil servants,
 the 87th United States Congress and President John F. Kennedy
 designated May 15 as Peace Officers Memorial Day and the week of
 May 15 as Police Week; and
 WHEREAS, Proud traditions since 1962, these observances
 provide an excellent opportunity for citizens to reflect on the
 far-reaching responsibilities and challenges of law enforcement
 duty and to honor active peace officers, as well as those who have
 fallen, for their exceptional service and sacrifice; now,
 therefore, be it
 RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 84th
 Legislature, hereby commend the members of the Hickory Creek
 Police Department for their outstanding service to their
 community and their dedication to duty and encourage all Texans
 to pay tribute to their local police department in observance of
 Police Week in Texas; and, be it further
 RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
 the Hickory Creek Police Department as an expression of high
 regard from the Texas Senate.
