SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 795
WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to
recognize Martha Olvera, who is retiring at the close of the
2014-2015 school year after 37 years of service as an educator;
and
WHEREAS, For the last 32 years, Martha Olvera has taught
students at Casis Elementary School; she is a highly respected
teacher who is known for her calm and reassuring demeanor and for
exceeding professional expectations; she often serves as an
interpreter for Spanish-speaking parents during meetings with
the principal; she was the school's 2005 Teacher of the Year; and
WHEREAS, Over the course of her career, she has assisted
with a wide array of student programs and activities, and she
served for many years as the head of the school's first-grade
science department; students have greatly benefited from her
skillful teaching methods, her sincere concern for the
individual, and her wise counsel and encouragement; and
WHEREAS, She is a dedicated and resourceful educator who
has instilled in her students a love of learning, and she has
helped prepare countless young Texans for continued success on
their educational path; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 84th
Legislature, hereby commend Martha Olvera on her exceptional
teaching career and her many contributions to Casis Elementary
School and extend to her best wishes for the future; and, be it
further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
her as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate.
