SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 807
WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to
recognize Martin Lopez of Falfurrias for his outstanding work in
honoring those who have served in the armed forces of the United
States of America; and
WHEREAS, For more than 20 years, Mr. Lopez has been the
driving force behind an effort to deliver and present United
States flags to military veterans and their families in
recognition of their service; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Lopez established his program to deliver
all-weather flags to those who served in the military on July 4,
1989; he began his work in Falfurrias but has since expanded his
efforts to include veterans in communities across South Texas,
including Premont, Kingsville, Alice, Hebbronville, Corpus
Christi, and Laredo; and
WHEREAS, A veteran of the United States Army who served in
the late 1960s, Mr. Lopez has also worked to help numerous
veterans receive the medals and decorations to which they are
entitled; and
WHEREAS, Through his dedicated efforts, Martin Lopez has
touched the lives of countless veterans and their families,
and he is truly deserving of special recognition; now,
therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 84th
Legislature, hereby commend Martin Lopez on his commitment to
honoring our nation's veterans and extend to him best wishes for
continued success in all his endeavors; and, be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
him as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate.
