| 2 | 2 | | WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to |

| 3 | 3 | | recognize May 19, 2015, as American Heritage Day at the Capitol; and |

| 4 | 4 | | WHEREAS, This special event is being held in conjunction |

| 5 | 5 | | with the 20th anniversary of the American Heritage Girls, an |
|---|
| 6 | 6 | | organization founded in 1995 with the mission of building women |
|---|
| 7 | 7 | | of integrity through service to God, family, community, and |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | country; and |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | WHEREAS, American Heritage Girls offers girls from age |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | five to 18 the opportunity to earn badges by achieving goals in a |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | wide range of categories known as frontiers; these categories are |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | heritage, family living, arts, outdoor skills, personal |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | well-being, and science and technology; and |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | WHEREAS, The program emphasizes the importance of girl |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | leadership, life-skill enhancement, teamwork development and |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | confidence building, and social, character, and spiritual |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | development; girls can earn service stars for community service, |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | along with activity patches, religious recognition awards, and |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | sports pins; and |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | WHEREAS, The American Heritage Girls program has had a |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | profound influence on the lives of countless girls and young |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | women, and Texas is privileged to have the largest number of the |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | organization's troops in the nation; now, therefore, be it |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 84th |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | Legislature, hereby welcome the delegation of the American |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | Heritage Girls and extend to them best wishes for a memorable |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | American Heritage Day at the Capitol; and, be it further |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared in |
