                            SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 941
 WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to
 recognize May 19, 2015, as American Heritage Day at the Capitol; and
 WHEREAS, This special event is being held in conjunction
 with the 20th anniversary of the American Heritage Girls, an
 organization founded in 1995 with the mission of building women
 of integrity through service to God, family, community, and
 country; and
 WHEREAS, American Heritage Girls offers girls from age
 five to 18 the opportunity to earn badges by achieving goals in a
 wide range of categories known as frontiers; these categories are
 heritage, family living, arts, outdoor skills, personal
 well-being, and science and technology; and
 WHEREAS, The program emphasizes the importance of girl
 leadership, life-skill enhancement, teamwork development and
 confidence building, and social, character, and spiritual
 development; girls can earn service stars for community service,
 along with activity patches, religious recognition awards, and
 sports pins; and
 WHEREAS, The American Heritage Girls program has had a
 profound influence on the lives of countless girls and young
 women, and Texas is privileged to have the largest number of the
 organization's troops in the nation; now, therefore, be it
 RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 84th
 Legislature, hereby welcome the delegation of the American
 Heritage Girls and extend to them best wishes for a memorable
 American Heritage Day at the Capitol; and, be it further
 RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared in
 honor of this special occasion.
