SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 943 WHEREAS, John Reddinger is graduating from The University of Texas at Austin on May 22, 2015, and he is completing the inaugural Student Veterans in Texas Internship Program in the office of State Senator José Menéndez; and WHEREAS, A Marine Corps veteran, Mr. Reddinger enlisted in 2007 and served tours of duty in Iraq and Afghanistan during his four years in the service, attaining the rank of corporal; he received a Good Conduct Medal and he was awarded a Jean Perkins Foundation Combat Veteran Scholarship; and WHEREAS, Mr. Reddinger is earning his bachelor's degree in English, with a minor in representations of war in film; during his internship in the office of Senator Menéndez, he has been a point person for matters relating to veteran affairs and military installations; this accomplished young man is also the volunteer coordinator for the university's Student Veteran Association, and he has benefited the wider community in the past as a driver for Meals on Wheels; and WHEREAS, Committed to making a positive difference in the lives of his fellow veterans, John Reddinger plans to pursue a career in advocacy and public policy, and in all his endeavors, he has demonstrated the qualities necessary to achieve this worthy goal; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 84th Legislature, hereby congratulate John Reddinger on his graduation from The University of Texas at Austin and on the completion of his legislative internship and extend to him sincere best wishes for continued success; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this Resolution be prepared for Mr. Reddinger as an expression of high regard from the Texas Senate.
