5	5	WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas honors and
6	6	commemorates the life of United States Army Specialist William R.
7	7	Moody, who died in the line of duty on June 18, 2013, at the age of
8	8	30, while serving his country in Afghanistan; and
9	9	WHEREAS, William Moody was an exemplary citizen who devoted
10	10	most of his adult life to military service; a 2002 graduate of
11	11	Burleson High School, he entered the United States Marine Corps
12	12	in 2003 and served two tours of duty in Iraq; he was honorably
13	13	discharged in 2007; and
14	14	WHEREAS, He married Lacy Long in 2008, and the couple was
15	15	blessed with three children, Alaysia Bre'an, Korben Parker, and
16	16	Graydon William, who were a source of much pride and joy for him; and
17	17	WHEREAS, Patriotic and committed to serving the nation, he
18	18	returned to military service and joined the United States Army;
19	19	he was a member of the 68th Combat Sustainment Support Battalion,
20	20	43rd Sustainment Brigade, 4th Infantry Division, on deployment
21	21	to Afghanistan when he gave his last full measure of devotion to
22	22	his country; and
23	23	WHEREAS, His many decorations included the Army Commendation
24	24	Medal, the Army Achievement Medal, the Combat Action Ribbon, the
25	25	Afghanistan and Iraq Campaign Medals, and the National Defense
26	26	Service Medal; and
27	27	WHEREAS, Specialist William Moody has become a part of the long
28	28	line of courageous men and women whose bravery and dedication to
29	29	duty and honor have left an indelible mark on the world; a young
30	30	man of courage, strength, and compassion, he gave unselfishly to
31	31	others, and he was proud to serve his country and protect its
32	32	security and democratic ideals; and
33	33	WHEREAS, He was a devoted son, brother, husband, and father,
34	34	and he leaves behind memories that will be treasured forever by
35	35	his family, his many friends, and all who were privileged to share in
36	36	his life; and
37	37	WHEREAS, In recognition of his ultimate sacrifice in the Global
38	38	War on Terror, Specialist William Moody is being posthumously
39	39	honored at a Joint Memorial Day Ceremony in the Texas House of
40	40	Representatives on May 23, 2015; now, therefore, be it
41	41	RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 84th
42	42	Legislature, hereby extend sincere condolences to the bereaved
43	43	family of William R. Moody; and, be it further
44	44	RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
45	45	his family as an expression of deepest sympathy from the Texas
46	46	Senate and that when the Senate adjourns this day, it do so in
47	47	memory of William R. Moody.
