                            SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 950
 In Memory
 of
 William R. Moody
 WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas honors and
 commemorates the life of United States Army Specialist William R.
 Moody, who died in the line of duty on June 18, 2013, at the age of
 30, while serving his country in Afghanistan; and
 WHEREAS, William Moody was an exemplary citizen who devoted
 most of his adult life to military service; a 2002 graduate of
 Burleson High School, he entered the United States Marine Corps
 in 2003 and served two tours of duty in Iraq; he was honorably
 discharged in 2007; and
 WHEREAS, He married Lacy Long in 2008, and the couple was
 blessed with three children, Alaysia Bre'an, Korben Parker, and
 Graydon William, who were a source of much pride and joy for him; and
 WHEREAS, Patriotic and committed to serving the nation, he
 returned to military service and joined the United States Army;
 he was a member of the 68th Combat Sustainment Support Battalion,
 43rd Sustainment Brigade, 4th Infantry Division, on deployment
 to Afghanistan when he gave his last full measure of devotion to
 his country; and
 WHEREAS, His many decorations included the Army Commendation
 Medal, the Army Achievement Medal, the Combat Action Ribbon, the
 Afghanistan and Iraq Campaign Medals, and the National Defense
 Service Medal; and
 WHEREAS, Specialist William Moody has become a part of the long
 line of courageous men and women whose bravery and dedication to
 duty and honor have left an indelible mark on the world; a young
 man of courage, strength, and compassion, he gave unselfishly to
 others, and he was proud to serve his country and protect its
 security and democratic ideals; and
 WHEREAS, He was a devoted son, brother, husband, and father,
 and he leaves behind memories that will be treasured forever by
 his family, his many friends, and all who were privileged to share in
 his life; and
 WHEREAS, In recognition of his ultimate sacrifice in the Global
 War on Terror, Specialist William Moody is being posthumously
 honored at a Joint Memorial Day Ceremony in the Texas House of
 Representatives on May 23, 2015; now, therefore, be it
 RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 84th
 Legislature, hereby extend sincere condolences to the bereaved
 family of William R. Moody; and, be it further
 RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
 his family as an expression of deepest sympathy from the Texas
 Senate and that when the Senate adjourns this day, it do so in
 memory of William R. Moody.
