4	4	Gene Simeon Walker Sr.
5	5	WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas joins the
6	6	citizens of Laredo in mourning the loss of noted rancher and
7	7	civic leader Gene Simeon Walker Sr., who died January 19, 2015,
8	8	at the age of 88; and
9	9	WHEREAS, Gene Walker was born on March 15, 1926; he was a
10	10	descendant of James O. Walker, and his family's many contributions
11	11	to Laredo and South Texas have spanned six generations; he was
12	12	highly respected for his work ethic and community leadership and
13	13	was named the 2014 Laredo Business Person of the Year by the
14	14	Laredo Chamber of Commerce; and
15	15	WHEREAS, A man of strong character, determination, and
16	16	wisdom, he gave unselfishly to others; he had a deep and abiding
17	17	love for ranching and for his family, and his enthusiasm for
18	18	living each day to the fullest will not be forgotten by those who
19	19	were privileged to share in his life; and
20	20	WHEREAS, He was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather,
21	21	and he leaves behind memories that will be cherished forever by his
22	22	family and countless friends; now, therefore, be it
23	23	RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 84th
24	24	Legislature, hereby extend sincere condolences to the bereaved
25	25	family of Gene Simeon Walker Sr.: his wife, Susan Walker; his
26	26	children, Gene S. Walker Jr. and his wife, Carllyn, James Patrick
27	27	Walker, Elizabeth Scott and her husband, Joey, May Kathleen
28	28	Walker, Travis Baker and his wife, Holly, and Erin Albanese and her
29	29	husband, John, and his many grandchildren and great-grandchildren;
30	30	and, be it further
31	31	RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
32	32	his family as an expression of deepest sympathy from the Texas
33	33	Senate and that when the Senate adjourns this day, it do so in
34	34	memory of Gene Simeon Walker Sr.
