                            SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 99
 In Memory
 of
 Gene Simeon Walker Sr.
 WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas joins the
 citizens of Laredo in mourning the loss of noted rancher and
 civic leader Gene Simeon Walker Sr., who died January 19, 2015,
 at the age of 88; and
 WHEREAS, Gene Walker was born on March 15, 1926; he was a
 descendant of James O. Walker, and his family's many contributions
 to Laredo and South Texas have spanned six generations; he was
 highly respected for his work ethic and community leadership and
 was named the 2014 Laredo Business Person of the Year by the
 Laredo Chamber of Commerce; and
 WHEREAS, A man of strong character, determination, and
 wisdom, he gave unselfishly to others; he had a deep and abiding
 love for ranching and for his family, and his enthusiasm for
 living each day to the fullest will not be forgotten by those who
 were privileged to share in his life; and
 WHEREAS, He was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather,
 and he leaves behind memories that will be cherished forever by his
 family and countless friends; now, therefore, be it
 RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 84th
 Legislature, hereby extend sincere condolences to the bereaved
 family of Gene Simeon Walker Sr.:  his wife, Susan Walker; his
 children, Gene S. Walker Jr. and his wife, Carllyn, James Patrick
 Walker, Elizabeth Scott and her husband, Joey, May Kathleen
 Walker, Travis Baker and his wife, Holly, and Erin Albanese and her
 husband, John, and his many grandchildren and great-grandchildren;
 and, be it further
 RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
 his family as an expression of deepest sympathy from the Texas
 Senate and that when the Senate adjourns this day, it do so in
 memory of Gene Simeon Walker Sr.
