| 2 | 2 | | WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to |

| 3 | 3 | | recognize the Gospel Express and its founders, Kirk and Cassandra |

| 4 | 4 | | Logan, for their efforts to share the spirit of gospel music with |
|---|
| 5 | 5 | | the residents of the Coastal Bend; and |
|---|
| 6 | 6 | | WHEREAS, Mr. and Mrs. Logan are the founders and producers |
|---|
| 7 | 7 | | of the Gospel Express, which has aired weekly in Corpus Christi |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | as a Sunday cable television program for more than 15 years; it |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | grew out of a top-rated radio program that Mr. Logan hosted on |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | KBNJ 91.7 FM from 1995 to 2000; and |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | WHEREAS, Mr. Logan has championed the interests of Corpus |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | Christi's African American community for 20 years; when he moved |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | to the city in 1995, he quickly became involved in local affairs, |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | and his work has contributed to the area's stability, |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | improvement, and growth; and |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | WHEREAS, Originally from Detroit, Michigan, Mr. Logan |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | began publishing Gospel Express magazine 25 years ago; over the |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | years since his move to Corpus Christi, the enterprise has |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | evolved with technology to reach radio and television audiences |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | and to win awards and bring inspiration to countless people; and |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | WHEREAS, In addition to promoting gospel music, Mr. and |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | Mrs. Logan have been actively involved in the Corpus Christi |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | community in numerous ways, and they have served as positive |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | influences for local youth; now, therefore, be it |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 84th |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | Legislature, hereby commend Kirk and Cassandra Logan on their |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | success in sharing the Gospel Express with the residents of |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | Coastal Bend communities and extend to them best wishes for the |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | future; and, be it further |
|---|
| 30 | 30 | | RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for |

| 31 | 31 | | them as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate. |
