SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 993 WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to recognize the Gospel Express and its founders, Kirk and Cassandra Logan, for their efforts to share the spirit of gospel music with the residents of the Coastal Bend; and WHEREAS, Mr. and Mrs. Logan are the founders and producers of the Gospel Express, which has aired weekly in Corpus Christi as a Sunday cable television program for more than 15 years; it grew out of a top-rated radio program that Mr. Logan hosted on KBNJ 91.7 FM from 1995 to 2000; and WHEREAS, Mr. Logan has championed the interests of Corpus Christi's African American community for 20 years; when he moved to the city in 1995, he quickly became involved in local affairs, and his work has contributed to the area's stability, improvement, and growth; and WHEREAS, Originally from Detroit, Michigan, Mr. Logan began publishing Gospel Express magazine 25 years ago; over the years since his move to Corpus Christi, the enterprise has evolved with technology to reach radio and television audiences and to win awards and bring inspiration to countless people; and WHEREAS, In addition to promoting gospel music, Mr. and Mrs. Logan have been actively involved in the Corpus Christi community in numerous ways, and they have served as positive influences for local youth; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 84th Legislature, hereby commend Kirk and Cassandra Logan on their success in sharing the Gospel Express with the residents of Coastal Bend communities and extend to them best wishes for the future; and, be it further RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for them as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate.
