| 5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas honors and |
|---|
| 6 | 6 | | commemorates the life of Rosendo DeLeon, who died May 14, 2015, |
|---|
| 7 | 7 | | at the age of 47; and |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | WHEREAS, Rosendo DeLeon was born June 24, 1967, in |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | Falfurrias; he enlisted in the United States Marine Corps shortly |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | after graduating from H. M. King High School; and |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | WHEREAS, He served with distinction for five years, and his |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | service included tours of duty at United States embassies in San |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | Salvador and Colombia; he left the military in 1993 and served as |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | a deputy sheriff in Corpus Christi and as a military advisor to |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | pipeline companies in Bogota, Colombia; and |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | WHEREAS, He reentered military service in 1997 as a member |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | of the 2nd Battalion, 8th Marines, and served in Okinawa, Japan, |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | and Haiti; he served as a recruiter for a time before |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | transferring to the 1st Battalion, 6th Marines, and serving in |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | combat deployments in Iraq and Afghanistan as a gunnery sergeant; |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | he retired with the rank of master sergeant; and |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | WHEREAS, He was a devoted husband and father, and he leaves |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | behind memories that will be treasured forever by his family and |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | countless friends; now, therefore, be it |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 84th |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | Legislature, hereby extend sincere condolences to the bereaved |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | family of Rosendo DeLeon: his wife, Sandra DeLeon; his children, |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | John Ross and Ashley Nicole DeLeon; his parents, Martin and |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | Olinda DeLeon; and his siblings, Pete, Paulino, Laurie, Lisa, |
|---|
| 30 | 30 | | Christina, and Marie; and, be it further |
|---|
| 31 | 31 | | RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for |

| 32 | 32 | | his family as an expression of deepest sympathy from the Texas |
|---|
| 33 | 33 | | Senate and that when the Senate adjourns this day, it do so in |
