44 Rosendo DeLeon
55 WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas honors and
66 commemorates the life of Rosendo DeLeon, who died May 14, 2015,
77 at the age of 47; and
88 WHEREAS, Rosendo DeLeon was born June 24, 1967, in
99 Falfurrias; he enlisted in the United States Marine Corps shortly
1010 after graduating from H. M. King High School; and
1111 WHEREAS, He served with distinction for five years, and his
1212 service included tours of duty at United States embassies in San
1313 Salvador and Colombia; he left the military in 1993 and served as
1414 a deputy sheriff in Corpus Christi and as a military advisor to
1515 pipeline companies in Bogota, Colombia; and
1616 WHEREAS, He reentered military service in 1997 as a member
1717 of the 2nd Battalion, 8th Marines, and served in Okinawa, Japan,
1818 and Haiti; he served as a recruiter for a time before
1919 transferring to the 1st Battalion, 6th Marines, and serving in
2020 combat deployments in Iraq and Afghanistan as a gunnery sergeant;
2121 he retired with the rank of master sergeant; and
2222 WHEREAS, He was a devoted husband and father, and he leaves
2323 behind memories that will be treasured forever by his family and
2424 countless friends; now, therefore, be it
2525 RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 84th
2626 Legislature, hereby extend sincere condolences to the bereaved
2727 family of Rosendo DeLeon: his wife, Sandra DeLeon; his children,
2828 John Ross and Ashley Nicole DeLeon; his parents, Martin and
2929 Olinda DeLeon; and his siblings, Pete, Paulino, Laurie, Lisa,
3030 Christina, and Marie; and, be it further
3131 RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
3232 his family as an expression of deepest sympathy from the Texas
3333 Senate and that when the Senate adjourns this day, it do so in
3434 memory of Rosendo DeLeon.
