                            SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 994
 In Memory
 of
 Rosendo DeLeon
 WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas honors and
 commemorates the life of Rosendo DeLeon, who died May 14, 2015,
 at the age of 47; and
 WHEREAS, Rosendo DeLeon was born June 24, 1967, in
 Falfurrias; he enlisted in the United States Marine Corps shortly
 after graduating from H. M. King High School; and
 WHEREAS, He served with distinction for five years, and his
 service included tours of duty at United States embassies in San
 Salvador and Colombia; he left the military in 1993 and served as
 a deputy sheriff in Corpus Christi and as a military advisor to
 pipeline companies in Bogota, Colombia; and
 WHEREAS, He reentered military service in 1997 as a member
 of the 2nd Battalion, 8th Marines, and served in Okinawa, Japan,
 and Haiti; he served as a recruiter for a time before
 transferring to the 1st Battalion, 6th Marines, and serving in
 combat deployments in Iraq and Afghanistan as a gunnery sergeant;
 he retired with the rank of master sergeant; and
 WHEREAS, He was a devoted husband and father, and he leaves
 behind memories that will be treasured forever by his family and
 countless friends; now, therefore, be it
 RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 84th
 Legislature, hereby extend sincere condolences to the bereaved
 family of Rosendo DeLeon: his wife, Sandra DeLeon; his children,
 John Ross and Ashley Nicole DeLeon; his parents, Martin and
 Olinda DeLeon; and his siblings, Pete, Paulino, Laurie, Lisa,
 Christina, and Marie; and, be it further
 RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
 his family as an expression of deepest sympathy from the Texas
 Senate and that when the Senate adjourns this day, it do so in
 memory of Rosendo DeLeon.
