SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 998
WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to
recognize Cathy Stephens, who is retiring from the Capital Area
Metropolitan Planning Organization on May 29, 2015, after a
22-year career in public service; and
WHEREAS, Before joining this regional transportation
planning organization, Cathy Stephens served the state as an
employee of the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality and the
Texas Department of Transportation; and
WHEREAS, She joined the Capital Area Metropolitan Planning
Organization 14 years ago, and her wealth of experience helped
her succeed as its planning and environmental manager; and
WHEREAS, During her tenure, she coordinated the
development of the 2040 Regional Transportation Plan and
cochaired the Clean Air Coalition Advisory Committee; she also
helped with the development and implementation of three regional
air-quality improvement plans; and
WHEREAS, Cathy Stephens is a respected leader in her field;
she has handled her far-reaching responsibilities with
exceptional skill and dedication, and her presence at the Capital
Area Metropolitan Planning Organization will be greatly missed;
now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 84th
Legislature, hereby commend Cathy Stephens on her invaluable
leadership at the Capital Area Metropolitan Planning
Organization and on her many contributions to the state and
extend to her best wishes for the future; and, be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
her as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate.
