A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
AN ACT
relating to compliance with rules, bylaws, and written policies
adopted by a school district's board of trustees.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
SECTION 1. Section 11.151, Education Code, is amended by
adding Subsection (d-1) to read as follows:
(d-1) Rules and bylaws adopted under Subsection (d) and any
other written policies adopted by the trustees have the force of law
in relation to the district, and the board of trustees, each
trustee, and each school district employee shall comply with those
rules, bylaws, and policies.
SECTION 2. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives
a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as
provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this
Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this
Act takes effect September 1, 2017.
