A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
AN ACT
relating to a veterans coordinator for the community justice
assistance division of the Texas Department of Criminal Justice.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
SECTION 1. Chapter 509, Government Code, is amended by
adding Section 509.0042 to read as follows:
Sec. 509.0042. VETERANS COORDINATOR. (a) The division
shall designate a veterans coordinator for the division to provide
technical support to departments regarding the supervision of
defendants who are veterans.
(b) The veterans coordinator may work in consultation with
veterans coordinators for any other division of the Texas
Department of Criminal Justice.
SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2017.
