| 7 | 7 | | relating to the value of a residential dwelling that may be offered |

| 8 | 8 | | or awarded as a prize at a charitable raffle. |

| 9 | 9 | | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |

| 10 | 10 | | SECTION 1. Section 2002.056(b-1), Occupations Code, is |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | amended to read as follows: |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | (b-1) The value of a residential dwelling offered or awarded |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | as a prize at a raffle that is purchased by the organization or for |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | which the organization provides any consideration may not exceed $2 |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | million [$250,000]. |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | SECTION 2. The change in law made by this Act applies to a |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | charitable raffle conducted under Chapter 2002, Occupations Code, |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | for which the prize is to be awarded on or after the effective date |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | of this Act. |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | SECTION 3. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | Act takes effect September 1, 2017. |
