55 A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
66 AN ACT
77 relating to the value of a residential dwelling that may be offered
88 or awarded as a prize at a charitable raffle.
99 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
1010 SECTION 1. Section 2002.056(b-1), Occupations Code, is
1111 amended to read as follows:
1212 (b-1) The value of a residential dwelling offered or awarded
1313 as a prize at a raffle that is purchased by the organization or for
1414 which the organization provides any consideration may not exceed $2
1515 million [$250,000].
1616 SECTION 2. The change in law made by this Act applies to a
1717 charitable raffle conducted under Chapter 2002, Occupations Code,
1818 for which the prize is to be awarded on or after the effective date
1919 of this Act.
2020 SECTION 3. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives
2121 a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as
2222 provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this
2323 Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this
2424 Act takes effect September 1, 2017.
