104 AN ACT
115 relating to the training period for a temporary insurance agent's
126 license.
137 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
148 SECTION 1. Section 4001.160(a), Insurance Code, is amended
159 to read as follows:
1610 (a) An agent, insurer, or health maintenance organization
1711 that is considering appointment of a temporary license applicant as
1812 its agent shall provide at least 40 hours of training to the
1913 applicant not later than the 30th [14th] day after the date the
2014 application, nonrefundable fee, and certificate are delivered or
2115 mailed to the department.
2216 SECTION 2. Section 4001.160(a), Insurance Code, as amended
2317 by this Act, applies only with respect to an applicant for a
2418 temporary license whose application is delivered or mailed to the
2519 Texas Department of Insurance on or after the effective date of this
2620 Act. With respect to an applicant whose application is delivered or
2721 mailed before that date, an agent, insurer, or health maintenance
2822 organization is governed by the law as it existed immediately
2923 before the effective date of this Act, and that law is continued in
3024 effect for that purpose.
3125 SECTION 3. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives
3226 a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as
3327 provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this
3428 Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this
3529 Act takes effect September 1, 2017.
