 A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
 AN ACT
 relating to the use of a school as a polling place.
 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
 SECTION 1.  Section 43.031, Election Code, is amended by
 adding Subsection (f) to read as follows:
 (f)  Notwithstanding Subsection (c), if the building
 selected for a polling place under this section is a school, the
 entity that owns or controls the building may deny the authority
 holding the election use of the building as a polling place if the
 entity that owns or controls the building can demonstrate that
 using the building as a polling place is reasonably likely to result
 in unsecured access to students on the building's campus. This
 subsection does not apply if classes are suspended during the time
 the building is in use as a polling place. The secretary of state
 shall adopt rules for the administration of this subsection.
 SECTION 2.  This Act takes effect September 1, 2017.
