| 11 | 11 | | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |

| 12 | 12 | | SECTION 1. Section 501.008, Government Code, is amended by |

| 13 | 13 | | adding Subsection (g) to read as follows: |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | (g) The department shall submit a quarterly report |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | regarding inmate grievances to the governor, the lieutenant |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | governor, the state auditor, and each member of the legislature. |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | The report must include the number and types of inmate grievances |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | received by the department, aggregated and disaggregated by |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | individual facility. |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2017. |
