A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
AN ACT
relating to a report by the Texas Department of Criminal Justice
regarding inmate grievances.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
SECTION 1. Section 501.008, Government Code, is amended by
adding Subsection (g) to read as follows:
(g) The department shall submit a quarterly report
regarding inmate grievances to the governor, the lieutenant
governor, the state auditor, and each member of the legislature.
The report must include the number and types of inmate grievances
received by the department, aggregated and disaggregated by
individual facility.
SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2017.
