| 14 | 8 | | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |

| 15 | 9 | | SECTION 1. Section 71.155, Business & Commerce Code, is |
|---|
| 16 | 10 | | amended by amending Subsection (a) and adding Subsection (a-1) to |
|---|
| 17 | 11 | | read as follows: |
|---|
| 18 | 12 | | (a) Except as provided by Subsection (a-1), the [The] county |
|---|
| 19 | 13 | | clerk shall collect a fee of: |
|---|
| 20 | 14 | | (1) $2 for filing each certificate or statement |
|---|
| 21 | 15 | | required or permitted to be filed under this chapter; and |
|---|
| 22 | 16 | | (2) 50 cents for each name to be indexed. |

| 23 | 17 | | (a-1) The county clerk may waive all fees under Subsection |
|---|
| 24 | 18 | | (a) for a registrant who is a military veteran. In this subsection, |
|---|
| 25 | 19 | | "military veteran" has the meaning assigned by Section 55.001, |
|---|
| 26 | 20 | | Occupations Code. |

| 27 | 21 | | SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2017. |
