99 relating to jury summons questionnaires.
1010 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
1111 SECTION 1. Sections 62.0132(b) and (d), Government Code,
1212 are amended to read as follows:
1313 (b) A written jury summons must include:
1414 (1) a copy of the questionnaire developed under this
1515 section; or
1616 (2) the electronic address of the court's Internet
1717 website from which the questionnaire developed under this section
1818 may be easily printed.
1919 (d) Except as provided by this subsection, a [A] person who
2020 has received a written jury summons [and a written jury summons
2121 questionnaire] shall complete and submit a jury summons [the]
2222 questionnaire when the person reports for jury duty. If the
2323 district and criminal district judges of a county adopt a plan for
2424 an electronic jury selection method under Section 62.011, the
2525 county may allow a person to complete and submit a jury summons
2626 questionnaire on the court's Internet website as authorized under
2727 Section 62.0111(b)(5).
2828 SECTION 2. The change in law made by this Act to Section
2929 62.0132, Government Code, applies only to a written jury summons
3030 sent on or after the effective date of this Act. A written jury
3131 summons sent before the effective date of this Act is governed by
3232 the law in effect immediately before the effective date of this Act,
3333 and the former law is continued in effect for that purpose.
3434 SECTION 3. This Act takes effect September 1, 2017.
