| 9 | 9 | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: | |
| 10 | 10 | SECTION 1. Sections 1702.301(g) and (h), Occupations Code, | |
| 11 | 11 | are amended to read as follows: | |
| 12 | 12 | (g) A letter of authority[,] or a school approval [or school | |
| 13 | 13 | instructor approval] letter issued by the board[,] expires on the | |
| 14 | 14 | first anniversary of the date of issuance. | |
| 15 | 15 | (h) A license, registration, instructor approval letter, or | |
| 16 | 16 | endorsement issued under this chapter, other than one specified in | |
| 17 | 17 | this section, expires on the date specified by this chapter or by | |
| 18 | 18 | board rule. | |
| 19 | 19 | SECTION 2. Section 1702.301, Occupations Code, as amended | |
| 20 | 20 | by this Act, applies only to an instructor approval letter issued or | |
| 21 | 21 | renewed on or after the effective date of this Act. An instructor | |
| 22 | 22 | approval letter issued or renewed before the effective date of this | |
| 23 | 23 | Act is governed by the law in effect on the date the letter was | |
| 24 | 24 | issued or renewed, and the former law is continued in effect for | |
| 25 | 25 | that purpose. | |
| 26 | 26 | SECTION 3. This Act takes effect September 1, 2017. |
