 A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
 AN ACT
 relating to the expiration of an instructor approval letter issued
 by the Texas Private Security Board.
 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
 SECTION 1.  Sections 1702.301(g) and (h), Occupations Code,
 are amended to read as follows:
 (g)  A letter of authority[,] or a school approval [or school
 instructor approval] letter issued by the board[,] expires on the
 first anniversary of the date of issuance.
 (h)  A license, registration, instructor approval letter, or
 endorsement issued under this chapter, other than one specified in
 this section, expires on the date specified by this chapter or by
 board rule.
 SECTION 2.  Section 1702.301, Occupations Code, as amended
 by this Act, applies only to an instructor approval letter issued or
 renewed on or after the effective date of this Act. An instructor
 approval letter issued or renewed before the effective date of this
 Act is governed by the law in effect on the date the letter was
 issued or renewed, and the former law is continued in effect for
 that purpose.
 SECTION 3.  This Act takes effect September 1, 2017.
