66 AN ACT
77 relating to the establishment of a college of veterinary medicine
88 at Texas A&M University--Kingsville.
99 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
1010 SECTION 1. Subchapter D, Chapter 87, Education Code, is
1111 amended by adding Section 87.303 to read as follows:
1212 Sec. 87.303. TEXAS A&M UNIVERSITY--KINGSVILLE COLLEGE OF
1313 VETERINARY MEDICINE. (a) The board may establish and operate a
1414 college of veterinary medicine as a professional school of Texas
1515 A&M University--Kingsville.
1616 (b) The college of veterinary medicine shall specialize in
1717 training veterinarians in operating a large animal practice.
1818 (c) In administering the college of veterinary medicine,
1919 the board may prescribe courses leading to customary degrees
2020 offered at other leading American colleges of veterinary medicine
2121 and may award those degrees.
2222 SECTION 2. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives
2323 a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as
2424 provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this
2525 Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this
2626 Act takes effect September 1, 2017.
