 A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
 AN ACT
 relating to the composition of the statewide health coordinating
 council.
 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
 SECTION 1.  Section 104.011(a), Health and Safety Code, is
 amended to read as follows:
 (a)  The statewide health coordinating council is composed
 of 17 members determined as follows:
 (1)  the executive commissioner or a representative
 designated by the executive commissioner;
 (2)  the chair of the Texas Higher Education
 Coordinating Board or a representative designated by the presiding
 officer;
 (3)  the commissioner or a representative designated by
 the commissioner;
 (4)  the commissioner of the Texas Education Agency
 [aging and disability services] or a representative designated by
 the commissioner [of aging and disability services]; and
 (5)  the following members appointed by the governor:
 (A)  three health care professionals from the
 allied health, dental, medical, mental health, and pharmacy
 professions, no two of whom may be from the same profession;
 (B)  one registered nurse;
 (C)  two representatives of a university or
 health-related institution of higher education;
 (D)  one representative of a junior or community
 college with a nursing program;
 (E)  one hospital administrator;
 (F)  one managed care administrator; and
 (G)  four public members.
 SECTION 2.  On the effective date of this Act, the
 commissioner of the Texas Education Agency or a representative
 designated by the commissioner of the Texas Education Agency
 replaces the commissioner of aging and disability services or the
 representative designated by the commissioner of aging and
 disability services as a member of the statewide health
 coordinating council, in accordance with Section 104.011, Health
 and Safety Code, as amended by this Act, and the commissioner of the
 Texas Education Agency shall serve the remainder of the unexpired
 term.
 SECTION 3.  This Act takes effect September 1, 2017.
