104 AN ACT
115 relating to completion of work status reports by a physician
126 assistant under the workers' compensation system.
137 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
148 SECTION 1. Section 408.025, Labor Code, is amended by
159 adding Subsection (a-1) to read as follows:
1610 (a-1) A treating doctor may delegate to a physician
1711 assistant who is licensed to practice in this state under Chapter
1812 204, Occupations Code, the authority to complete and sign a work
1913 status report regarding an injured employee's ability to return to
2014 work. The delegating treating doctor is responsible for the acts of
2115 the physician assistant under this subsection.
2216 SECTION 2. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives
2317 a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as
2418 provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this
2519 Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this
2620 Act takes effect September 1, 2017.
