| 10 | 10 | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: | |
| 11 | 11 | SECTION 1. Section 12.0272, Agriculture Code, is amended by | |
| 12 | 12 | adding Subsection (d) to read as follows: | |
| 13 | 13 | (d) Money in the Texas economic development fund may not be | |
| 14 | 14 | used to finance a facility or establishment at which gambling is to | |
| 15 | 15 | be conducted, including bingo and wagering on greyhound or horse | |
| 16 | 16 | racing. | |
| 17 | 17 | SECTION 2. Section 481.078, Government Code, is amended by | |
| 18 | 18 | adding Subsection (e-2) to read as follows: | |
| 19 | 19 | (e-2) The governor may not award a grant to an entity to | |
| 20 | 20 | finance a facility or establishment at which gambling is to be | |
| 21 | 21 | conducted, including bingo and wagering on greyhound or horse | |
| 22 | 22 | racing. | |
| 23 | 23 | SECTION 3. Section 481.078(e-2), Government Code, as added | |
| 24 | 24 | by this Act, applies only to a grant awarded on or after the | |
| 25 | 25 | effective date of this Act. A grant awarded before the effective | |
| 26 | 26 | date of this Act is governed by the law in effect on the date the | |
| 27 | 27 | grant was awarded, and the former law is continued in effect for | |
| 28 | 28 | that purpose. | |
| 29 | 29 | SECTION 4. This Act takes effect September 1, 2017. |
