| 14 | 8 | | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |

| 15 | 9 | | SECTION 1. Section 1301.354, Occupations Code, is amended |
|---|
| 16 | 10 | | by adding Subsection (c-1) to read as follows: |
|---|
| 17 | 11 | | (c-1) At the applicant's request, the board may credit an |
|---|
| 18 | 12 | | applicant under Subsection (b) with up to 250 hours of the work |
|---|
| 19 | 13 | | experience required before taking an examination if the applicant |
|---|
| 20 | 14 | | has completed a coherent sequence of courses in the construction |
|---|
| 21 | 15 | | trade that are offered through a career and technical education |
|---|
| 22 | 16 | | program that is approved by the State Board of Education. |
|---|
| 23 | 17 | | SECTION 2. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives |
|---|
| 24 | 18 | | a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as |
|---|
| 25 | 19 | | provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this |
|---|
| 26 | 20 | | Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this |
|---|
| 27 | 21 | | Act takes effect September 1, 2017. |
