The bill would amend an existing misdemeanor defined in the Election Code to allow county election administrators in certain counties to be a candidate for and to hold a nonpartisan public office provided no part of the jurisdiction of the office is located in the county where the person serves as an elections administrator.The bill would remove certain actions from categorization as a Class A misdemeanor and is therefore anticipated to have no significant fiscal impact to state government.This bill would take effect September 1, 2017.
