10 | 10 | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: | |
11 | 11 | SECTION 1. Subchapter C, Chapter 264, Family Code, is | |
12 | 12 | amended by adding Section 264.2012 to read as follows: | |
13 | 13 | Sec. 264.2012. FAMILY PRESERVATION SERVICES. In the five | |
14 | 14 | areas of the state that have the highest number of high-risk | |
15 | 15 | families determined by zip code, the department shall implement an | |
16 | 16 | evidence-based program that provides frequent in-home visits with | |
17 | 17 | families who have a history of child abuse or neglect or who display | |
18 | 18 | risk factors for child abuse or neglect with the goal of improving | |
19 | 19 | family preservation and family reunification. The program must | |
20 | 20 | contain guidelines for the frequency of monthly contact by the | |
21 | 21 | department with the family, based on the risk factors for child | |
22 | 22 | abuse and neglect in each case. | |
23 | 23 | SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2017. |
