9- A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
104 AN ACT
115 relating to requirements for screenings in public or private
126 schools to detect vision disorders of students.
137 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
148 SECTION 1. Section 36.004, Health and Safety Code, is
159 amended by adding Subsection (b-1) to read as follows:
1610 (b-1) The rules must allow an individual who attends a
1711 public or private school to be screened using photoscreening to
1812 detect vision disorders.
1913 SECTION 2. As soon as practicable after the effective date
2014 of this Act, the executive commissioner of the Health and Human
2115 Services Commission shall adopt the rules necessary to implement
2216 the changes in law made by this Act.
2317 SECTION 3. This Act takes effect September 1, 2017.
