104 AN ACT
115 relating to regulation of electricians by local governments.
126 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
137 SECTION 1. Section 1305.201, Occupations Code, is amended
148 by amending Subsection (a) and adding Subsection (f) to read as
159 follows:
1610 (a) This chapter does not prohibit a municipality or region
1711 from regulating electricians or residential appliance installers
1812 by:
1913 (1) enacting an ordinance requiring inspections;
2014 (2) offering examinations;
2115 (3) issuing municipal or regional licenses; or
2216 (4) collecting permit fees for municipal or regional
2317 licenses and examinations from [electricians and] appliance
2418 installers for work performed in the municipality or region.
2519 (f) A municipality or region may not collect a permit fee,
2620 registration fee, administrative fee, or any other fee from an
2721 electrician who holds a license issued under this chapter for work
2822 performed in the municipality or region. This subsection does not
2923 prohibit a municipality or region from collecting a building permit
3024 fee.
3125 SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2017.
