66 AN ACT
77 relating to longevity pay for members of fire and police
88 departments in certain counties.
99 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
1010 SECTION 1. Section 141.032, Local Government Code, is
1111 amended to read as follows:
1212 Sec. 141.032. LONGEVITY PAY. (a) Except as provided by
1313 Subsection (b), in [In] a municipality with a population of 10,000
1414 or more, each member of the fire or police department is entitled to
1515 receive, in addition to all other money paid for services rendered
1616 in the department, longevity pay of $4 a month for each year of
1717 service in the department, not to exceed 25 years.
1818 (b) A member of a fire or police department who, after a
1919 break in service, is reemployed on or after September 1, 2017, by a
2020 department with which the member had previously served is not
2121 entitled to longevity pay under Subsection (a) for the prior
2222 service.
2323 SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2017.
