9 | 9 | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: | |
10 | 10 | SECTION 1. Section 141.032, Local Government Code, is | |
11 | 11 | amended to read as follows: | |
12 | 12 | Sec. 141.032. LONGEVITY PAY. (a) Except as provided by | |
13 | 13 | Subsection (b), in [In] a municipality with a population of 10,000 | |
14 | 14 | or more, each member of the fire or police department is entitled to | |
15 | 15 | receive, in addition to all other money paid for services rendered | |
16 | 16 | in the department, longevity pay of $4 a month for each year of | |
17 | 17 | service in the department, not to exceed 25 years. | |
18 | 18 | (b) A member of a fire or police department who, after a | |
19 | 19 | break in service, is reemployed on or after September 1, 2017, by a | |
20 | 20 | department with which the member had previously served is not | |
21 | 21 | entitled to longevity pay under Subsection (a) for the prior | |
22 | 22 | service. | |
23 | 23 | SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2017. |
