66 AN ACT
77 relating to the testing of breeder deer for chronic wasting
88 disease.
99 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
1010 SECTION 1. Subchapter L, Chapter 43, Parks and Wildlife
1111 Code, is amended by adding Section 43.3595 to read as follows:
1212 Sec. 43.3595. TESTING BREEDER DEER FOR CHRONIC WASTING
1313 DISEASE. The department shall pay the costs associated with
1414 testing breeder deer for chronic wasting disease as that testing is
1515 required by a herd certification program administered by the
1616 federal Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service.
1717 SECTION 2. The change in law made by this Act applies to a
1818 breeder deer tested on or after the effective date of this Act. A
1919 breeder deer tested before the effective date of this Act is
2020 governed by the law in effect at the time the deer was tested and
2121 that law is continued in effect for that purpose.
2222 SECTION 3. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives
2323 a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as
2424 provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this
2525 Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this
2626 Act takes effect September 1, 2017.
