| 10 | 10 | SECTION 1. Chapter 12, Agriculture Code, is amended by | |

| 12 | 12 | Sec. 12.00292. VERIFICATION OF ELIGIBILITY FOR SCHOOL LUNCH | |
| 13 | 13 | PROGRAM. To the extent allowed by federal law, the department shall | |
| 14 | 14 | verify, or require local educational agencies to verify, the income | |
| 15 | 15 | of each applicant for the school lunch program under 42 U.S.C. | |
| 16 | 16 | Section 1751 et seq. whose eligibility under the school lunch | |
| 17 | 17 | program is not based on an eligible program that may be used for | |
| 18 | 18 | direct verification purposes under 7 C.F.R. Section 245.6a. | |
| 19 | 19 | SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2017. |
