| 9 | 9 | | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |

| 10 | 10 | | SECTION 1. Subchapter D, Chapter 33, Education Code, is |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | amended by adding Section 33.0891 to read as follows: |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | Sec. 33.0891. ASSIGNMENT OF SCHOOLS TO CONFERENCES BY |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | UNIVERSITY INTERSCHOLASTIC LEAGUE. In assigning schools to |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | appropriate conferences for purposes of competition based on the |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | number of students enrolled in each school, the University |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | Interscholastic League shall use only student enrollment |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | information provided by the agency to the league for that purpose. |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | SECTION 2. Section 33.0891, Education Code, as added by |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | this Act, applies beginning with the first University |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | Interscholastic League reclassification that occurs on or after the |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | effective date of this Act. |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | SECTION 3. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | Act takes effect September 1, 2017. |
|---|
