| 9 | 9 | SECTION 1. Section 102.003(b), Human Resources Code, is | |
| 10 | 10 | amended to read as follows: | |
| 11 | 11 | Sec. 102.003. RIGHTS OF THE ELDERLY. (b) An elderly | |
| 12 | 12 | individual has the right to be treated with dignity and respect for | |
| 13 | 13 | the personal integrity of the individual, without regard to race, | |
| 14 | 14 | religion, national origin, sex, age, disability, marital status, | |
| 15 | 15 | [or] sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, or source | |
| 16 | 16 | of payment. | |
| 17 | 17 | SECTION 2. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives | |
| 18 | 18 | a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as | |
| 19 | 19 | provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this | |
| 20 | 20 | Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this | |
| 21 | 21 | Act takes effect September 1, 2017. |
