A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
AN ACT
relating to sexual orientation and gender identity or expression
with regards to the rights of the elderly.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
SECTION 1. Section 102.003(b), Human Resources Code, is
amended to read as follows:
Sec. 102.003. RIGHTS OF THE ELDERLY. (b) An elderly
individual has the right to be treated with dignity and respect for
the personal integrity of the individual, without regard to race,
religion, national origin, sex, age, disability, marital status,
[or] sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, or source
of payment.
SECTION 2. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives
a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as
provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this
Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this
Act takes effect September 1, 2017.
