 CONCURRENT RESOLUTION
 WHEREAS, Proud members of the Texas Cattle Feeders
 Association are celebrating the organization's 50th anniversary in
 2017; and
 WHEREAS, A national leader in animal care and health, food
 safety, environmental stewardship, and trade policy, TCFA works to
 advance the economic, political, and social interests of the cattle
 feeding industry in Texas, Oklahoma, and New Mexico; and
 WHEREAS, The area served by TCFA is the largest
 cattle-feeding region in the United States, feeding and marketing
 approximately 6 million head of cattle each year and producing 28
 percent of the nation's fed-cattle supply; and
 WHEREAS, In the past 50 years, TCFA-area feed yards have fed
 and marketed some 275 million head of cattle, which produced
 roughly 125 billion pounds of beef, or the equivalent of 500 billion
 quarter-pound hamburgers; and
 WHEREAS, Beef from TCFA feed yards is highly sought after
 across the country and around the world, and the annual economic
 impact of cattle feeding on the State of Texas alone is in the
 billions of dollars; and
 WHEREAS, The Texas Cattle Feeders Association plays a dynamic
 and vital role in the prosperity of the Lone Star State, and the
 association's members may indeed take great pride in their half
 century of achievement; now, therefore, be it
 RESOLVED, That the 85th Legislature of the State of Texas
 hereby commemorate the 50th anniversary of the Texas Cattle Feeders
 Association and extend to all those involved with the organization
 sincere best wishes for the future; and, be it further
 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
 prepared for the Texas Cattle Feeders Association as an expression
 of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives and Senate.
