56 WHEREAS, Proud members of the Texas Cattle Feeders
67 Association are celebrating the organization's 50th anniversary in
78 2017; and
89 WHEREAS, A national leader in animal care and health, food
910 safety, environmental stewardship, and trade policy, TCFA works to
1011 advance the economic, political, and social interests of the cattle
1112 feeding industry in Texas, Oklahoma, and New Mexico; and
1213 WHEREAS, The area served by TCFA is the largest
1314 cattle-feeding region in the United States, feeding and marketing
1415 approximately 6 million head of cattle each year and producing 28
1516 percent of the nation's fed-cattle supply; and
1617 WHEREAS, In the past 50 years, TCFA-area feed yards have fed
1718 and marketed some 275 million head of cattle, which produced
1819 roughly 125 billion pounds of beef, or the equivalent of 500 billion
1920 quarter-pound hamburgers; and
2021 WHEREAS, Beef from TCFA feed yards is highly sought after
2122 across the country and around the world, and the annual economic
2223 impact of cattle feeding on the State of Texas alone is in the
2324 billions of dollars; and
2425 WHEREAS, The Texas Cattle Feeders Association plays a dynamic
2526 and vital role in the prosperity of the Lone Star State, and the
2627 association's members may indeed take great pride in their half
2728 century of achievement; now, therefore, be it
2829 RESOLVED, That the 85th Legislature of the State of Texas
2930 hereby commemorate the 50th anniversary of the Texas Cattle Feeders
3031 Association and extend to all those involved with the organization
3132 sincere best wishes for the future; and, be it further
3233 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
3334 prepared for the Texas Cattle Feeders Association as an expression
3435 of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives and Senate.
