| 9 | 10 | | in Florida, and after graduating from high school, he joined the |

| 10 | 11 | | United States Navy and served as an operational SEAL for 10 years; |

| 11 | 12 | | his military career included a deployment to Scotland, as well as |
|---|
| 12 | 13 | | assignments in Bosnia, the Arctic, and South Texas; among his |
|---|
| 13 | 14 | | numerous honors, this decorated veteran was awarded the Navy |

| 14 | 15 | | Commendation Medal, the National Defense Service Medal, and the |
|---|
| 15 | 16 | | Armed Forces Service Medal; and |
|---|
| 16 | 17 | | WHEREAS, Mr. Machowicz studied various forms of martial arts |
|---|
| 17 | 18 | | for more than two decades, and following his military service, he |
|---|
| 18 | 19 | | created the Bukido Training System, which was designed to help |
|---|
| 19 | 20 | | women defend themselves; he also started his own motivational |
|---|
| 20 | 21 | | company, Not Dead Can't Quit, and in 2000, he wrote Unleash the |
|---|
| 21 | 22 | | Warrior Within, a self-help book that teaches readers how to |
|---|
| 22 | 23 | | achieve their goals; he later went on to work as a television host |
|---|
| 23 | 24 | | for such programs as the Discovery Channel's Future Weapons, Spike |

| 24 | 25 | | TV's Deadliest Warrior, and Triggers: Weapons That Changed the |

| 25 | 26 | | World, which aired on the Discovery and Military Channels; and |

| 26 | 27 | | WHEREAS, In all his endeavors, Mr. Machowicz enjoyed the love |

| 27 | 28 | | and support of his wife, Amanda, and together, the couple raised |

| 28 | 29 | | their two beautiful daughters, Josephine and Valentina, in |

| 29 | 30 | | Pearland; and |
|---|
| 30 | 31 | | WHEREAS, Although Mr. Machowicz was diagnosed with stage IV |
|---|
| 31 | 32 | | glioblastoma in August 2015, he continued to find ways to help |
|---|
| 32 | 33 | | others; shortly before his death, he established the Texas Team |
|---|
| 33 | 34 | | Foundation, which raises funds for glioblastoma research and |
|---|
| 34 | 35 | | supports children who suffer from the disease; and |
|---|
| 35 | 36 | | WHEREAS, Richard Machowicz led a life that was made rich |
|---|
| 36 | 37 | | through meaningful service to his fellow citizens, and he leaves |
|---|
| 37 | 38 | | behind a legacy of strength, determination, and kindness that will |
|---|
| 38 | 39 | | continue to inspire all those who had the good fortune to know him; |
