| 7 | 8 | | CubeCorps competition sponsored by the United Launch Alliance; and |

| 8 | 9 | | WHEREAS, Established to encourage hands-on science, |

| 9 | 10 | | technology, engineering, and math experiences, the CubeCorps |

| 10 | 11 | | program provides an opportunity for university students to design a |
|---|
| 11 | 12 | | miniature satellite, known as a CubeSat, and compete for a chance to |
|---|
| 12 | 13 | | have their project launched into space; and |
|---|
| 13 | 14 | | WHEREAS, A skilled team from the UTEP MIRO Center for Space |

| 14 | 15 | | Exploration and Technology Research developed the winning CubeSat |
|---|
| 15 | 16 | | model, Orbital Factory II, which will demonstrate on-orbit repair |

| 16 | 17 | | of solar cells using 3-D printing technology; it is scheduled to |

| 17 | 18 | | travel aboard an Atlas V rocket and be placed into an elliptical |

| 18 | 19 | | orbit approximately 26,000 miles above Earth's center in 2017; and |

| 19 | 20 | | WHEREAS, Through their ingenuity, insight, and dedication to |

| 20 | 21 | | excellence, these exemplary students have earned distinction for |

| 21 | 22 | | their school and the Lone Star State, and they may indeed take |

| 22 | 23 | | justifiable pride in their notable achievement; now, therefore, be |

| 24 | 25 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 85th Texas |
