 R E S O L U T I O N
 WHEREAS, A group of students from The University of Texas at
 El Paso distinguished themselves by winning first place in the
 CubeCorps competition sponsored by the United Launch Alliance; and
 WHEREAS, Established to encourage hands-on science,
 technology, engineering, and math experiences, the CubeCorps
 program provides an opportunity for university students to design a
 miniature satellite, known as a CubeSat, and compete for a chance to
 have their project launched into space; and
 WHEREAS, A skilled team from the UTEP MIRO Center for Space
 Exploration and Technology Research developed the winning CubeSat
 model, Orbital Factory II, which will demonstrate on-orbit repair
 of solar cells using 3-D printing technology; it is scheduled to
 travel aboard an Atlas V rocket and be placed into an elliptical
 orbit approximately 26,000 miles above Earth's center in 2017; and
 WHEREAS, Through their ingenuity, insight, and dedication to
 excellence, these exemplary students have earned distinction for
 their school and the Lone Star State, and they may indeed take
 justifiable pride in their notable achievement; now, therefore, be
 it
 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 85th Texas
 Legislature hereby congratulate the student team from The
 University of Texas at El Paso for its first-place finish in the
 United Launch Alliance CubeCorps competition and extend to all
 those involved with the winning project best wishes for continued
 success; and, be it further
 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
 prepared for The University of Texas at El Paso as an expression of
 high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
