R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, Todd Moulder of Baker Middle School in Corpus
Christi has been selected as a finalist for the 2017 H-E-B
Excellence in Education Lifetime Achievement Award in the secondary
education category; and
WHEREAS, An eighth-grade English teacher at Baker Middle
School, Mr. Moulder keeps his students engaged with an innovative
teaching style that incorporates simulations, interactions with
primary sources, and individual reflection; he has served as an
educator for more than two decades, having previously worked at
Taft Junior High School and at Memorial Middle School in Pharr, and
he is exceptionally dedicated to continuing his professional
development; and
WHEREAS, Through his work as chair of the language arts
department, Mr. Moulder has played a crucial role in designing its
curriculum, and he has also served on the school's instructional
council, International Baccalaureate leadership team, and staff
development team; moreover, he has contributed to the district as a
member of its committees on diversity and inclusion, performance
standards, and planning and decision making; and
WHEREAS, Highly respected by his peers, Mr. Moulder was named
the 2010 Campus Teacher of the Year and District Secondary Teacher
of the Year; he was also recognized as a Flint Hills Resources
Outstanding Educator in August 2010; and
WHEREAS, Active in his community, Mr. Moulder has given
generously of his time and talents as president of the board for the
Women's and Men's Health Services of the Costal Bend and as
secretary of the board for The Passage, an AIDS hospice; he holds a
bachelor's degree in history from Transylvania University in
Lexington, Kentucky; and
WHEREAS, Todd Moulder exemplifies the enthusiasm and
dedication that are the hallmarks of the best teachers, and he may
indeed take pride in having enriched the lives of countless young
Texans; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 85th Texas
Legislature hereby congratulate Todd Moulder on his selection as a
finalist for the 2017 H-E-B Excellence in Education Lifetime
Achievement Award in the secondary education category and extend to
him sincere best wishes for the future; and, be it further
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
prepared for Mr. Moulder as an expression of high regard by the
Texas House of Representatives.
