H.R. No. 1038
R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, Coach Raul Munoz, a physical education teacher at
George Evans Elementary School in Corpus Christi, has been named a
finalist for a 2017 H-E-B Excellence in Education Award in the
Leadership category; and
WHEREAS, After beginning his teaching career more than 18
years ago, Coach Munoz has dedicated himself to introducing
children to the positive benefits of physical fitness, and he has
demonstrated an outstanding ability to keep students engaged by
creating innovative lessons tailored to their individual needs; he
was previously recognized by the school community with the Evans
Teacher of the Year Award; and
WHEREAS, Coach Munoz has also participated in and facilitated
numerous extracurricular activities for students at Evans
Elementary, many of whom are classified as economically
disadvantaged or at-risk; last year, he organized a tennis event
that paired children and teachers for doubles matches, and he has
also pursued a grant that would enable Evans students to take part
in the district swim program; and
WHEREAS, Throughout his career, Raul Munoz has distinguished
himself as an educator of tremendous passion, creativity, and
commitment, and he has set a standard of leadership to which all in
his profession may aspire; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 85th Texas
Legislature hereby congratulate Raul Munoz on his selection as a
finalist for a 2017 H-E-B Excellence in Education Award and extend
to him sincere best wishes for the future; and, be it further
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
prepared for Coach Munoz as an expression of high regard by the
Texas House of Representatives.
