H.R. No. 1039
R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, Dolores Webb is retiring from the Birdville
Independent School District board of trustees in 2017, concluding
27 years of outstanding service to that body; and
WHEREAS, First elected as a trustee in 1990, Ms. Webb has
served five terms as president of the board and has been vice
president and secretary multiple times as well; she completed the
Leadership TASB program sponsored by the Texas Association of
School Boards in 1995, and she also holds the Master Trustee
designation; in 2014, the Northeast Tarrant Chamber of Commerce
presented her with its Excalibur Award in recognition of her steady
leadership and dedication in public office; she has further
benefited her community as a member of the Northeast Richland Lions
Club and Legacy Church of Christ; and
WHEREAS, Ms. Webb is a lifelong resident of Tarrant County
and a proud member of the Richland High School Class of 1964; she
graduated from North Texas State University with a bachelor's
degree in English and went on to receive a master's degree in public
school administration; after teaching English in Birdville ISD for
11 years, she served the district for 6 years as an assistant
principal at the secondary level; she changed careers in 1987 and
was employed as a State Farm Insurance agent until her retirement in
2013; and
WHEREAS, Through the years, Ms. Webb has enjoyed the enduring
support of her husband, Roger Webb, who is a retired Birdville ISD
teacher; she takes great pride in her three daughters, Amy Webb
Norred, Alicia Webb Edwards, and Andrea Webb Bradshaw, and in her
eight grandchildren, Cade, Alec, Nealie, Nick, Cole, Madison, Drew,
and Austin; and
WHEREAS, Those Texans who give freely of their time and
talents to advance public education make a positive difference in
their communities, and over the course of her long tenure on the
school board, Dolores Webb has earned the lasting respect and
appreciation of her fellow citizens; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 85th Texas
Legislature hereby honor Dolores Webb for her 27 years of service as
a trustee of the Birdville Independent School District and extend
to her sincere best wishes for the future; and, be it further
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
prepared for Ms. Webb as an expression of high regard by the Texas
House of Representatives.
